Whistler Avalanche Courses - Avalanche Skills Training Level 1
Avalanche awareness is a necessity for anyone skiing, boarding and traveling in the mountains during the winter. Our goal with this course is to help you recognize winter hazards and understand the basics of evaluating snow stability. Topics such as weather, snow pack, terrain, route finding, use of a transceiver and rescue techniques will be covered. One evening and two field days will cover important information you need to travel safely in winter. All courses are taught by extremely knowledgeable ACMG Ski Guides and CAA Professional members.

Prerequisites: Strong intermediate skier/boarder comfortable on blue runs and variable snow conditions. No previous Backcountry experience required
Cost: $ 245 per person + HST % | Discounts available for group bookings of 5 or more.
Includes: Course manual, avaluator booklet, handout package, and completion certificate.
Details: The course schedule is as follows:
* Day 1: 6:30pm - 9:30pm (theory)
* Day 2: 8am - 7pm (field & theory)
* Day 3: 8am - 5pm (field & debrief)
Participants must pick up their rental equipment before the course begins. Participants are to provide their own food and water for the course days. Backcountry and avalanche equipment rental available at preferred rate. Backcountry lifts pass available.
