Green initiatives at Coast Mountain Guides
Low impact activities:
With the exception of heli-hikes in the summer, all the other tours offered at Coast Mountain Guides have a very low carbon footprint. Our main transportation means to the mountain are Whistler Blackcomb chairlifts, which have a very low operating footprint.
Paper use:
By changing our fax reservation system to an online reservation system, Coast Mountain Guides is saving 4 sheets of paper per online reservation. When it comes to using of paper, Coast Mountain Guides purchases post-consumer recycled paper.
This year, Coasty Mountain Guides reduced the number of printed brochures by 4000. Moving towards more marketing online reduces our environmental footprint.
Local partners:
Coast Mountain Guides uses G3 skins, a company from Vancouver, and the skis and split board rentals are made here in Whistler, at the Prior manufacture.
Research:
This year, Coast Mountain Guides participated in a student’s research on the green business practices in Whistler.
