Snow Shelters Training

Printer Friendly Version Of This PageSnow shelters are a great way to avoid carrying a tent in the winter. When built properly, they can be very comfortable, especially when the temperature is well below freezing. However when built improperly they can be a risky business. While building the traditional igloo calls for lots of practice, snow shelters that are less technically demanding and are suitable for short-term use can be equally effective. Knowing how to build a snow shelter can be a lifesaver for the backcountry enthusiast. After a full day of activities, there's nothing like retiring to a cosy snow home. In this one to two day course we will explore the different ways of building snow shelters and their pros and cons, dos and don’ts.
